RICHMOND, Va. (AP) Michael Vick’s uncle is among 22 people charged with participating in a drug ring that distributed hundreds of grams of heroin in eastern Virginia.
Authorities said Thursday that 57-year-old Joseph Vick Jr. of Newport News is accused of being a midlevel distributor. A spokeswoman for the U.S. attorney’s office confirmed that Joseph Vick is the uncle of Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick, who was released from federal custody in July after serving 20 months for a dogfighting conspiracy.
U.S. Attorney Neil H. MacBride and FBI special agent Alex J. Turner announced Thursday’s arrests after court documents were unsealed. It’s unclear whether Joseph Vick has retained a lawyer.
