Author: A North Carolina teenager, one of seven minivan passengers injured in a crash on Interstate 295 Monday, has died at VCU Medical Center.
Virginia State Police identified the victim as Keyson T. Barnes, 16, of Columbia, N.C., who was traveling with six other passengers, ages nine months to 16 years.
State Police said the accident at about 2 p.m., just north of the Route 156 exit at Airport Drive in Hanover County, occurred after the right rear tire of the minivan exploded, causing the vehicle to overturn several times.
The minivan, driven by Tasha B. Barnes, 35, who had attended a reunion in Spotsylvania with other family members, struck a pickup truck but the two passengers in that vehicle were not injured.
