Richmond, Va. –
Fire seriously damaged a home in eastern Henrico County Saturday, but the five occupants — grandparents and three grandchildren — escaped unharmed.
Flames were “through the roof” by the time firefighters arrived at the house in the 600 block of Reese Drive shortly after 3:30 p.m., said Henrico Fire Capt. Daniel Schwartz. He said the residents reported the fire after hearing “a popping noise” and seeing flames at the rear of the house.
“The house is 95 percent destroyed,” Schwartz said.
The Red Cross is assisting the family, and the cause of the blaze is under investigation.
