PPP Looked At Hypothetical Kaine-McDonnell Match-Up

Richmond, VA (1140wrva.com) – Governor Tim Kaine (D) would potentially be looking a tough re-election fight if he were allowed to run again, according to Public Policy Polling.  PPP finds, from its most recent poll, that Kaine trails Bob McDonnell (R) 51% to 43%.  McDonnell currently leads State Senator Creigh Deeds (D) 52% to 40%.

PPP’s Tom Jensen says they did the poll to try and gauge how much of the race is resulting from Deeds’ tactics, and how much is dependent on national trends.  Kaine’s results show it would be tough for many Democrats to beat McDonnell.

Jensen admits, however, the Kaine would likely run a different race than Deeds, focusing more on positive messages and minorities.
