National Guard Spokesman Major Cotton Puryear says while the recent focus has been on Afghanistan, there is still a need for security in Iraq.  Puryear says these soldiers have been busy, having served in Kosovo in 2007, and on inauguration detail for President Obama’s inauguration in January.  Puryear says their commander was asked if the soldiers could handle another deployment, and he said they were able to do so.

These soldiers come primarily from central and western Virginia.  The battalion’s main focus is infantry.
